Position: Retail Buyer

Job Summary:
The Retail Buyer is responsible for the strategic planning, purchasing, and assortment of merchandise in order to meet customer demand and achieve company sales and profitability targets. This role requires a deep understanding of consumer behavior, market trends, and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers. The Retail Buyer must possess excellent analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills to effectively manage inventory levels and maximize profit margins.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement effective buying strategies to ensure the right products are available at the right time, in the right quantities, and at the right prices.
2. Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities to guide purchasing decisions.
3. Collaborate with the Retail Manager and other stakeholders to establish sales targets, product categories, and pricing strategies.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate terms and conditions, and monitor supplier performance to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
5. Analyze sales data, inventory levels, and market trends to forecast demand, optimize stock levels, and minimize excess inventory or stockouts.
6. Monitor and evaluate product performance, sales trends, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product assortment improvements and expansion.
7. Participate in the development of marketing strategies and promotions to ensure effective product positioning, advertising, and promotional activities.
8. Manage and maintain accurate records of purchases, prices, and inventory levels in the company's ERP system or other designated software.
9. Collaborate with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure effective product presentation and visual displays that enhance the customer shopping experience.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements related to the assigned product categories.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Merchandising, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Retail Buyer or similar role in the retail industry.
3. Sound knowledge of retail operations, merchandising principles, and supply chain management.
4. Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market research, and financial reports.
5. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
6. Proficient in using inventory management software and other relevant computer applications.
